    NOVA HOMELESS RADIOTHON TO RETURN

    Help Our Homeless Radiothon

Radio NOVA’s Help Our Homeless Radiothon is to return; the station has raised almost €100,000 over the last two years in its annual pledge drive. The two-day on-air event will take place on Wednesday 8th & Thursday 9th March and will see NOVA give over its programme schedule to raise funds to help fight homelessness.

It is the third year that the radio station has run its Homeless Radiothon, which sees celebrities from across the entertainment, music and political spectrum lend their support live on-air. This year, all funds raised will be donated to Peter McVerry Trust.

Nova’s annual Radiothon is a listener-focussed event, with donations received from people from all walks of life, from children donating their pocket money to businesses donating the takings of their day’s trading. Last year, the station received donations from as far afield as China, The USA and The Netherlands, This year, a team of volunteers from Peter McVerry Trust wil take calls from listeners at the station’s HQ in the Dublin Docklands, with a special Radiothon Call Centre set up at NOVA for the two days of the event.

Radio NOVA CEO, Kevin Branigan, said, “We’re getting ready, once again, to turn our airwaves over for two days to raise funds to help fight homelessness in Dublin. Our listeners have shown great compassion time and time again to support the great work being carried out on a daily basis by organisations such as Peter McVerry Trust. We were overwhelmed by the phenomenal support of our listeners in recent years to help us raise money for this vital cause. Sadly, as we’ve all seen in the national media, the homeless crisis has further deepened over the past 12 months. We’re now, once again, asking for the help of our listeners to meet the increasing need”.

Peter McVerry Trust CEO, Pat Doyle, said,”We’re delighted to have been selected as Radio Nova’s charity partner for this year’s Radiothon. Peter McVerry Trust supported more than 4,500 people last year through our services. The support of Radio Nova and their listeners’ will help us to continue our work of getting people out of homelessness and into their own homes.”

NOVA’s Radiothon will take place on Wednesday 8th & Thursday 9th March and will take the form of a charity pledge drive. NOVA broadcasts to Dublin and the commuter belt counties of Kildare, Meath & Wicklow on 100.3 FM and nationally on its smartphone apps and the Irish Radio Player.
