RADIO NOVA INCREASES MARKET SHARE BY 56% *

Radio NOVA has increased its market share in the Dublin area by a whopping 56% year-on-year, according to the latest JNLR radio ratings, signalling the largest increase the station has recorded in its short history.* NOVA now holds its best market share to date with 4.2% and claims significant gains in its share of audience over 35 in the city. The station has also scored gains in daily listenership (+14%).

The latest results cover the period January to December 2013 and show large market share declines for Q102 (-28%), 98FM (-27%) and FM104 (-15%).

Pointing to the latest results, NOVA’s CEO & Programme Director, Kevin Branigan, said, “We’re extremely gratified by our continued growth in share and reach. We’re working very hard to grow our audience in key demographics and these latest results are a clear sign that we’re advancing steadily in audience terms”.

Branigan points to increases in key demographics as evidence that the station’s share of radio listening in the capital is significant:

35+ (+75%)
20-44 (+47%)
45-54 (+76%)

The latest figures come less than three months after the launch of the station’s new breakfast programme, “Morning Glory”, featuring presenters Joan Lea and Marty Miller.

Radio NOVA broadcasts to Dublin city, county and commuter belt, including Wicklow, Kildare and Meath. The station is backed by businessmen Dermot Hanrahan, Des Whelan and Maurice Cassidy as well as radio investors Kevin Branigan and Mike Ormonde. The station offers a diet of ‘guitar-based’ music from The Killers, Coldplay, The Kings of Leon and the Foo Fighters to David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac.
