NOVA Raised €30,400 for Focus Ireland in Recent Radiothon

RADIO NOVA’S PRESENTS A CHEQUE FOR €30,400 TO FOCUS IRELAND ON BEHALF OF THE STATION’S LISTENERS.

Radio NOVA raised €30,400 in its ‘Help Homelessness Radiothon’ for Focus Ireland. The station presented a cheque for the full fund to Focus Ireland executives today at a ceremony at its HQ in the Dublin Docklands. NOVA beat its self-imposed fund-raising target of €25,000 by over 20% during its first ever charity radiothon, which took place over two days in February.

NOVA’s CEO, Kevin Branigan, presented the cheque for the funds raised to Rachel Murphy, Focus Ireland’s Public Fundraising Manager and Emily Brew, Donor Marketing Officer.

This is the first year the station has run its Radiothon, which saw a plethora of well-known people call into the station to voice their support over two days including broadcaster Brent Pope, comedian Neil Delamare, actor Peter Coonan (aka Fran from Love/Hate), snooker player Ken Doherty, footballer Roddy Collins, RTE’s Nuala Carey, TV presenter/author Lorraine Keane, The Stunning’s Steve Wall, comedians Catherine Lynch, The Nuala’s, Fred Cooke and Bosco!

The Radiothon raised the funds in a two-day pledge drive to support Focus Ireland and was donated entirely by listeners and businesses throughout Dublin, Kildare, Meath & Wicklow via telephone donations.

‘The
generous support of Radio NOVA’s listeners is now helping us to deliver vital services to help young people in the Greater Dublin area who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping us to provide hot meals and a safe place to sleep – and help with moving on from homelessness to the hundreds of people who need our help today”, said Rachel Murphy.

“We’re blown away by the support of our listeners. This was the first ever major event we’ve undertaken of this nature and we were both delighted and humbled by the support and to be able to raise so much money for this vital cause”, said Kevin Branigan.
