Radio NOVA is to bring Friday Night 80s to its schedule. The new show will be presented by former Today FM presenter Tim Kelly, who presented Friday Night 80s on the national station for many years.
The new show will run from 7pm-10pm every Friday evening on NOVA and will feature the 3 hours of seriously additive 80s music from NOVA artists like U2, Simple Minds, Def Leppard, INXS, The Police, Bon Jovi, Fine Young Cannibals, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, New Order, The Cure, Talking Heads, The Jam, David Bowie, REM, Tom Petty, Guns and Roses, Duran Duran, Queen and much more. Meanwhile, NOVA’s Alice Cooper show will now move to Saturday evenings at 9pm.
Today FM ran Friday Night 80s for more than 15 years but dropped the show earlier this year.
“The 80s was such a great decade for music and ranks in polls as the most favourite music decade of the past 50 years. There are so many great songs to play from NOVA’s bank of artists. I’m really looking forward to getting in for the first show on September 9th. We’ll have three hours of stonking NOVA tunes every week, with a few surprises thrown in too!”, says Tim Kelly.
“I’m really pleased to welcome Tim Kelly and Friday Night 80s to NOVA – we play a broad mix of great guitar music from the 1960s through to today but our listeners particularly love the 80s. Friday Night 80s will be the perfect show to kick off the weekend on Radio NOVA”, said CEO/Programme Director Kevin Branigan.
The announcement of the new show is the first in what the station is calling “The Super 6”, six announcements by the station to celebrate its 6th birthday on September 1st. A second announcement is expected by the station over the next week.
Friday Night 80s will be sponsored by Bruxelles bar.
