Radio Nova has joined forces with the ISPCC and the Irish Mirror to launch ‘The Radio Nova Kits For Christmas campaign’. It’s the second year the radio station has run the seasonal campaign, which is aimed at providing sports jerseys to less fortunate children throughout Dublin, Kildare, Meath & Wicklow. NOVA is well-known for its Christmas charity initiatives having run its ‘Christmas Toy Appeal’ in 2011 and 2012.
To take part, listeners can simply drop a new or second hand sports jersey off at Radio NOVA’s HQ in the Dublin docklands, freepost to the ISPCC Headquarters at 29 Lwr Baggot Street or listen to Radio Nova over the duration of the appeal to hear a list of drop-off points in public places, shopping centres and schools throughout Dublin county and commuter belt.
In addition, the station has placed collection boxes in numerous post-primary schools throughout Dublin and surrounding counties including Muckross Park, Terenure College, Trinity Comprehensive, St. David’s Artane, Blackrock College, Colaiste Dhulaigh, St. Aidan’s Tallaght, Primrose National School Celbridge, Kings Hospital School Palmerstown and numerous others, with the donated jerseys to be collected from each school by the station’s Rattle & Hummer Street Team and delivered to the ISPCC later in December.
The ‘Kits for Christmas’ is being run on the station’s ‘Morning Glory’ breakfast show, presented by Dee Woods & Marty Miller.
“For many people Christmas can be a very difficult time with extra financial woes and worries. Our goal at Radio Nova is to provide sports jerseys to those less fortunate this Christmas and help put a smile on a young child’s face. We all have a stash of sports jerseys that we’ll never wear again. Rather than these shirts going to waste we can get them to those who would wear them with pride“, said Elaine Leonard, Promotions Manager, Radio NOVA.
“The ISPCC’s mission is to advocate on behalf of all children in Ireland and to provide a range of independent unique services which are preventative and empowering in nature. We are delighted that Radio Nova have decided to launch their “Kits for Christmas Appeal” again this year, it’s a fantastic fun campaign that puts the biggest of smiles on the kids that we work with”, said Susie Halpin National Fundraising Campaigns Executive ISPCC.
“Once again we here at the Irish Mirror are delighted to come on board for Radio Nova’s Kits for Christmas campaign. It’s a great cause to help support the ISPCC, families and their little sport heroes over Christmas”, said Clara Kavanagh Marketing Irish Mirror.
Radio NOVA broadcast to Dublin city, county and commuter belt, including Wicklow, Kildare and Meath on 100.3FM. The station plays a diet of guitar- based music from the 60s to today including artists like The Killers, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Guns & Roses and The Police.
