NOVA Sets Up 'Pop Up' Digital Radio Station for Bray Air Display

NOVA Sets Up ‘Pop Up’ Digital Radio Station for Bray Air Display

Radio NOVA has set up a ‘pop up’ radio station for the Bray Air Display this coming Sunday. The special digital channel will complement the station’s FM live coverage of the aviation show with additional content including a direct feed from the Air Show’s Air Traffic Control Tower, a monitor of the ATC comms frequency and a relay of the live commentary from the show organisers.
The radio station will be available on NOVA’s iPhone and Android apps as well as on its website, Nova.ie. Almost 260,000 people have downloaded the station’s smartphone app. NOVA already operates eight digital radio services including NOVA 60s, NOVA 70s, NOVA 80s, NOVA 90s, NOVA Classic Rock and NOVA Chill.
NOVA is the official media partner for the Air Display for the third year running and will broadcast live from the event, which is described as Ireland’s largest public air show. More than 85,000 people are expected to attend this year’s show in Bray Seafront.

“We wanted to give our listeners more”, said NOVA’s CEO/Programme Director, Kevin Branigan. “Our development of digital mobile radio means we can easily bring extra, specialised content to our listeners – and the large number of listeners on our mobile app brings this digital radio content to a mass audience in a meaningful way. Our pop-up channel will bring all this available audio to the general public at the push of a button. It’s going to be fantastic”, he said.
The station will send multiple audio feeds from the Air Show via satellite back from Bray to its base at Castleforbes Road in Dublin, from where it’s FM and digital channels are broadcast.
“We literally are the only broadcaster in Ireland who can do this sort of thing with ease and deliver it to an active, ready audience. We’ve already created digital radio channels for Vodafone, Aiken Promotions and other commercial clients such as Joe Duffy Motors and our listeners love them”, says Branigan.

NOVA’s Marty Miller will broadcast live from the Air Display from 2pm on Sunday. NOVA broadcasts to Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Wickow. Listeners travelling to Bray on Sunday can listen to Nova on 100.3 & 95.7 FM, as well as by smartphone.
