Queen voted Best British Band of All Time by Radio Nova Listeners

Queen have been voted as the best British act of all time by Radio Nova listeners, beating off stiff competition from massive artists Genesis, The Who, David Bowie, Oasis, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and more. Tens of thousands of listeners voted during a week-long on-air playoff with 32 British acts facing off against each other in heats that saw a nail-biting grand final between Queen and David Bowie.

The results were the culmination of Radio Nova’s ‘Rock Royalty Referendum’ which was broadcast over four days on the Dublin-based station, and took place on the eve of the Coronation of Britain’s King Charles. Listeners to Radio Nova, one of Ireland’s largest radio stations, voted the 32 acts to take part in the ‘Referendum’

Queen beat off competition from monster acts Oasis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Florence & The Machine, Eric Clapton, The Who, ELO, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Blur, The Verve, Def Leppard, Genesis, David Bowie, The Smiths, The Stereophonics, Kate Bush, The Clash, Roxy Music, The cure, Radiohead, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Status Quo, The Stone Roses, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, The Jam & The Eurythmics.

Radio Nova’s ‘Rock Royalty Referendum’ follows its recent ‘Shamrock Referendum’ on St. Patrick’s Day, in which listeners voted Thin Lizzy the best Irish act of all time.
