Radio NOVA and MINI launch national initiative for unsigned music talent 

Radio Nova and MINI Ireland have launched a new national initiative to search for unsigned musical talent in Irish music. Nova Discovered takes place over 6 weeks from 3rd May to 21st June, with the station calling on all budding musicians to grab a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part.

Nova Discovered will become an annual, national initiative aimed at sourcing, encouraging and promoting unsigned talent. Judging will be carried out through a series of on-air and live events by a heavy-weight judging panel from the music industry to find the top new talent of 2018. The station is offering a prize package worth €30,000, to include music and recording equipment and a full week of professional recording and production time with Orphan Studios’ producer Gavin Glass. In addition, music industry leaders will give mentoring and the services of a publicist and a marketing manager will be provided. Radio Nova giving full support on and off-air, with significant airplay given to the winner. Nova will also assist in the organisation of live gigs to promote the winner.

The Judging Panel
Four judges have been chosen from the cream of the Irish music industry:

* Niamh Farrell, vocalist for the multi-award winning Irish band Ham Sandwich.
* Peter Devlin musician and songwriter with The Devlins.
* Sinead Troy, CEO of Yangaroo, Ireland’s new digital delivery platform from music to media.
* Gavin Glass, Musician/songwriter, award winning producer and owner of the legendary Orphan Recording Studio.

“A talent search of this magnitude has never been undertaken before on radio in Ireland. There is a wealth of unsigned talent and we aim to help bring some it to the fore. It demonstrates our commitment to new and emerging Irish talent”, said Colm Hayes, Programme Director of Radio Nova.

Austin Behan, from MINI will also be represented on the judging panel. MINI as a brand is renowned for creativity. “We know what it takes to make a hit and build a fan base of millions”, commented Austin Behan, General Manager, MINI Ireland.

The semi-finals for Nova Discovered will take place on the 7th and 14th of June with the final taking place on Thursday 21st June at Tramline, Hawkins St. The event will be broadcast live on Radio Nova.

Those who think they have the talent and the prowess to become the Nova Discovered Artist of the Year can log onto Novadiscovered.ie and upload the track they think will win. It’s that simple.
