Actor Tom Hopkins launches ‘Back to Education’ Initiative on Radio Nova

Radio Nova has launched a ‘Back to Education’ initiative aimed at providing listeners with information about the many evening classes and adult education options available throughout the Greater Dublin area over the coming weeks. The initiative, which will take place over the first two weeks in September, is timed to coincide with the annual surge in part-time courses, with official figures suggesting that over 200,000 adults will enrol in a part-time course over the next two months.

Actor Tom Hopkins, who plays Christy Phelan in RTE’s Fair City, has strongly supported Nova’s Back to Education Initiative, which will feature giveaways of course places and information about colleges providing courses throughout Dublin. Hopkins is a well-known supporter of further education, having spent five years on the dole in his 40s; he ultimately become a professional actor Fair City, having returned to education aged 44 to study acting.

“September is the busiest time of the year for part-time courses and there is huge interest amongst adults in career enhancement, up-skilling and even meeting new people”, says Radio Nova’s CEO, Kevin Branigan. “Our most recent research show that 44% of our audience are considering enrolling in a course in the next six months, a statistic that illustrates the calibre of our audience”, he said.

Radio Nova’s ‘Back to Education’ Initiative will launch on Monday 2nd September.

Radio Nova broadcasts to Dublin city, county and commuter belt. The most recent JNLR radio ratings shows that the station continues to grow its share of audience, with more than 70% of its audience aged 20-44.
