Musical Youth Foundation

Radio NOVA has teamed up with the Musical Youth Foundation in a fundraising initiative that will see two NOVA listeners winning a trip to New York.

The Musical Youth Foundation charity, whose stated aim is to give every child in Ireland a musical education, was established in 2009. It’s hope is to provide a music academy for all children around Ireland so they can discover and explore all musical instruments, practise music, collaborate to create their own bands and receive mentoring from industry experts and high profile artists in a safe and secure environment. People associated with the Foundation to date include President Michael D. Higgins, Smurfit Kappa Foundation and The Joe Strummer Foundation amongst others.

NOVA will seek donations for musical education for children through its Morning Glory breakfast show over a two-week period.

NOVA’s Kevin Branigan said, “We admire and support the aims of the Musical Youth Foundation and we’re very happy to work with them to highlight the cause of musical education for children in Ireland. The power of music and musical education is immense and  the work of the MYF is impressive in helping to spread the availability of funding and expertise for musical education for children”.

NOVA’s Morning Glory breakfast show will raise funds for the Foundation via a text-based competition that will see two of its listeners win return flights for two to the Big Apple. The prize will include five nights in a luxurious hotel and tickets to experience all that the greatest City in the World has to offer, including world-renowned attractions such as the Empire State Building, Museum of Natural History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or take a Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise with FREE NY City passes AND tickets to see School of Rock the Musical produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber! To qualify to win the prize, listeners have to donate €2 to the Musical Youth Foundation by text message. NOVA and the Musical Youth Foundation are teaming up with United Airlines and for the prize.

The winner will be announced on NOVA’s ‘Morning Glory’ on Monday 9th November.

Presenters Dee Woods & Marty Miller said, “We are delighted to help raise much needed funds for The Musical Youth Foundation and give children all over Ireland a chance to discover music by making their own”.

Chris Maher, Founder and CEO of the Musical Youth Foundation, said, “Radio NOVA is the perfect radio station for us to work with. They love music as much as we do and the people in NOVA genuinely believe in our aims of bringing a musical education to children and the benefits of same. They’ve really embraced the project”.
