Help our Homeless Radiothon with Focus Ireland on Radio Nova

NOVA to run Radiothon Pledge Drive to help Homelessness with Focus Ireland

Radio NOVA is to run an on-air pledge drive to raise funds for Homelessness in the Greater Dublin area. The station will broadcast a two-day Radiothon aimed at raising €25,000 in aid of Focus Ireland to help work to tackle youth homelessness in the Greater Dublin area.

The Radiothon will take place live on NOVA on Wednesday 1th & Thursday 12th February.

The radio station, together with Focus Ireland, aims to raise €25,000 for the charity. Specifically, NOVA will ask for 1,000 of its listeners to donate €25 each in order to reach the target. Radio Nova said that each donation of €25 will go directly towards helping Focus Ireland to provide safe accommodation and a hot meal a day for a full week for someone who is homeless.

NOVA’s CEO, Kevin Branigan, said, “Youth homelessness is a serious and growing problem in our society and we’re excited to be able to play our part. We have 126,000 wonderful listeners and we’ve confident that they won’t be found wanting when it comes to donating to help this very worthy and topical cause, which becomes all the more poignant with the current cold weather”, he said. “We’re effectively turning our station over to become a fundraising platform for two days and it will be an emotional experience for us”.

Rachel Murphy, Public Fundraising Manager, Focus Ireland said, “Focus Ireland is delighted to have the support of Radio Nova in their Help Homelessness Radiothon taking place next week on the 11th and 12th of February. We would like to encourage listeners to take part in this wonderful initiative and help raise funds to make a difference for young people. The money raised will help to fund some of our vital services which aim to protect young people and prevent them from becoming homeless in the first place as well as helping others to escape from homelessness”.

The Radio NOVA ‘Help the Homeless Radiothon’ 2015 will take place on Wednesday 11th & Thursday 12th February between 8am and 5pm each day.

The station will welcome a steady stream of well-known personalities on-air with presenters Dee Woods, Marty Miller, Greg Gaughran, Pat Courtenay, Sinead Ni Mhordha, Conor Irwan and John Hart to help encourage listeners and business throughout the Greater Dublin area to donate.

Radio NOVA broadcasts to Dublin, Kildare, Meath & Wicklow on 100.3, 100.5 & 95.7FM and online via it’s Nova.ie website and smartphone apps.
